Richie Ryan’s CentreStage Theatre School is Limerick’s and the regions most successful Performing Arts Schools.

Established in 1996, this school has grown from strength to strength. Offering a wide variety of classes in Dance, Acting, Group and Individual Singing, TV & Film Acting, Guitar, Piano and Drum/Percussion Lessons. We cater for Adults, Teenagers (14+), Youths (11+), Juniors (7+) and Tots (5+).

Gifted and dedicated tutors are a hallmark of the School. CentreStage prides itself in being student lead and performance driven. CentreStage Theatre School is based in our own designated CentreSPACE Studios in the heart of Limerick City with easy access. We enforce a very stringent Child Protection Policy for the safety of our students and teachers..

Learners who successfully complete the ADULT courses with CentreStage will

Performance (Acting & Drama)

· Acquire and understanding of the dramatic process

DANCE/MOVEMENT

Develop movement, co-ordination and technical skills in the area of dance.

Develop a critical viewpoint of dance

· Develop awareness of their bodies through a wide range of technical and creative exercises

· Demonstrate a vocabulary of dance through movement, combinations and warm-up exercises

· Prepare the body for the physical demands in dance

· Develop their range, degree and efficiency of movement

· Apply correct body alignment.

· Explore dance forms

· Perform clear transitions between positions and phrases of movement

· Explore rhythmic stepping, jumping, turning, elevation and gesture in dance

· Apply safe practices with regard to dance

· Promote a healthy, positive body image and lifestyle

· Respond in an individual way to improvisation tasks

· Explore imagination, interaction and spontaneity

· Identify the choreographic tools and craft needed in dance

SINGING/MUSIC

Develop an aural awareness that underlines active and critical musical skills

Acquire and understanding of music vocabulary and basic notation

Develop practical skills in singing, melody and harmony

Understand the concepts of styles and genre that lead to critical appreciation of music.

Develop an understand of the function of music and singing in the performing arts

· Recognise elements of music and singing. I.e.; melody, harmony, rhythm, tempo, metre, tonality and structure

· Develop good practical singing exercises

· Understand the structure of a song. I.e.; repetition/contrast, mood/expression, arrangement, dynamic, lyrics and style.

· Beat time to a piece of music and a song

· Identify common time signatures such as 3 / 4, 4 / 4, 6 / 8

· Recognise rhythm patterns in a song

· Recognise major and minor tonality in a song

· Identify and recognise commonly used terms and signs in a song including tempo markings, key and time signatures

· Expression markings, dynamic markings and repeat signs

· Follow a score

· Develop the body in association with musical theatre performance
